Our digitised Peak District historical photograph / image collection is arranged in alphabetical order by village / place (below) and includes various antique / vintage photographic postcards dating from the turn of the 20th-century as well as some even older historic photographs and engravings. The collection aims to give a picture of life in the Peak District in past centuries. Details of the photographer / artist / publisher for each image (where known) are included at the end of each caption. Included are some images from the market towns of Ashbourne, Buxton, Matlock and Glossop which are not, in the strictest sense, Peak District settlements as such, but have traditionally been regarded as gateway towns to the Peak District. For enquiries about obtaining high resolution copies of any images (e.g. for inclusion in publications, media broadcasts, etc.) please contact us (email: [email protected]), citing the reference number(s) of the image(s) of interest.
